Working Partners Advisory Committee
The Working Partner’s Advisory Committee provides feedback on project components and helps evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing research strategies. The Advisory Committee members are as follows:
Marilyn Barger is the Principal Investigator and Executive Director of FLATE, the Florida Regional Center of Advanced Technological Education, funded by the National Science Foundation and housed at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida since 2004.
Dan Clutter is the VP of Sales for Active Motif. His industry experience includes over two decades of work with companies like Fluidigm Corporation, Gentel Biosciences, PerkinElmer, NimbleGen, and Roche. Prior to entering the commercial world, he was a professor at Stockton State and spent six years as a guest lecturer at University of Wisconsin in the Masters in Biotechnology program.
Kevin Cooper is Director and Principal Investigator of RCNET, the ATE Regional Center for Nuclear Education and Training, a network of 42 community colleges nationwide designed to help build a more systematic approach to nuclear technician education. RCNET facilitates interactions between community colleges and universities, the nuclear industry, federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
Ellen Hause is the Program Director for Innovative Learning and Student Success with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). She is currently the principal investigator on AACC’s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant from the National Science Foundation, Co-PI on the Mentor-Connect project, and project director for AACC’s MentorLinks program, which offers mentoring and technical assistance to community colleges seeking to develop or strengthen STEM programs.
Michael Lesiecki is PI and Executive Director of the Maricopa Advanced Technology Education Center (MATEC) is a member of the Academic Affairs Division of the Maricopa Community Colleges. MATEC is a permanent center of excellence in support of education and workforce development needs for the semiconductor, automated manufacturing, and electronics industries.
Annette Parker is the President of South Central College. Prior to that, Parker served at the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTC) System since 2007, as executive director of the National Center of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Manufacturing. Before KCTC, she served from 2002-2007 as department chair, Manufacturing Engineering Technologies at Lansing Community College (MI). Prior to her work in education, Dr. Parker worked in the automotive industry.
L. Allen Phelps is a Senior Scientist at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, Professor Emeritus of the School of Education and Director Emeritus of the Center on Education and Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, Dr. Phelps directs an ATE targeted research project focused on identifying student, instructional, and institutional factors affecting student success in manufacturing and engineering pathways. He also co-authored a text on Advisory Committees in Action.
Edgar Troudt is an Assistant Professor, and the Technology Director for the Center for Economic and Workforce Development, at Kingsborough Community College and PI on several NSF/ATE projects since 2005 that help students in STEM disciplines acquire business and entrepreneurial skills.
