Goals and Research Questions

The research in the Working Partners Project has four key goals:
Goal 1:  Identify, investigate, and document the models for partnerships and collaboration that exist between the ATE community and industry
Goal 2:  Research and articulate implementations, challenges, and impacts of the partnership models
Goal 3:  Explore and record conditions that sustain and support productive industry relationships
Goal 4:  Chronicle meaningful experiences and pathways that arise from ATE community partnerships with industry

The project goals have associated research questions, including:
  • What models for industry partnerships currently exist within the ATE community?
  • Are the same models successful for ATE Projects as for ATE Centers?
  • What are the impacts of industry partnerships on institutions, faculty, and students?
  • What attributes are common to industry partners involved in strong partnerships?
  • What are the primary hurdles that projects and centers face in implementing a model once chosen?
